Our 2010 Memphis talk on proofs entitled "Census of Obsolete Proofs from the ABNC Archives" is now available online. Although it costs $25, it is well worth it. Neither Greg or I get a kickback.
"Census of Obsolete Proofs from the ABNC Archives"
by Bernie Wilde and Greg Davis
The proofs sold from the American Bank Note Company archives are the highest quality impressions available for most obsolete bank notes. The anatomy of these proofs is presented with information on how to distinguish them from issued notes, remainders and modern reprints. An analysis of census data by researcher Greg Davis reveals that over 1000 proofs are unique surviving impressions meaning no issued notes or remainders are known.
In this video you will see and hear:
* Definition of a proof
* How to tell original proofs
* Estimate of total number of these issues
* Availability of proofs by state
* Examples of most common, most rare, different denominations and more
By the way Greg did you get the copy that I sent you?
